Why parish nursing?
The goal of the parish nurse program is to help members stay well and create a feeling of deeper caring throughout the church community. The foundation of parish nursing is that health and wellness are an integral connection of body, mind, and spirit. The parish nurse works closely with the Congregational Health Ministries team and the pastoral staff to develop and implement health ministry for the congregation and to meet its pastoral needs.
Who is a parish nurse?
A parish nurse is a registered nurse with several years of experience who has completed a parish nurse basic preparation course for this specialty practice. At First Presbyterian Church, the parish nurse is a member who works as a volunteer in a part-time position.
What does a parish nurse do?
