By educating young women, you can impact a family, a village, a region.

The Pasrur Boarding School is one of many schools run by the Presbyterian Education Board (PEB) in Pakistan in conjunction with the PC(USA). These schools have a proven record of excellence and go back over 100 years.

Last year, 2022, was the 25th anniversary of Pakistan denationalizing the PEB (Presbyterian Education Board) schools. This was the time when the PEB schools, which had been taken over by the Pakistani government, were given back to the Presbyterians. The schools were in terrible shape by that time but at least PEB got the land and some of the buildings could be salvaged.

The Friends of Pasrur Sponsorship Project

The Friends of Pasrur was established in 2007 for the purpose of funding scholarships for Christian girls to attend the school in Pasrur, Pakistan. Prior to that time, our church had done fundraising for buildings, school furniture, books and uniforms. We had an ongoing relationship with Veda Gil, (our mission partner) for some time. Because of that, our church built a dormitory so the Christian girls from outlying villages could attend school at the Pasrur Christian Girls School in Pasrur.

Now that we had a building, we needed to find money to give scholarships to impoverished Christian girls so that they could attend school (something their families would never be able to afford). To that end, the Friends of Pasrur was established by six women who had a vision. We offer people a sponsorship for a specific girl.

Every year our church sponsors over 100 girls to go to the Pasrur Christian Boarding school.

Our cost to sponsor a girl for one year is $500 or $42 per month. To sponsor an 11-12 grade girl it is $750. This includes room and board, tuition and books, uniforms, and a medical check-up.

All donation amounts are gratefully accepted and all donors receive photos, drawings, and thank you notes from the girls they have sponsored. We now have about 20 people who help to organize this project. Each year there is a question as to whether we will be able to fund all the girls. Each year we hold our breath, cross our fingers, and pray.

What can you do?

There are many ways to help the Pasrur Project. Watch this video to hear from the girls we support.
